Green sled push turf lane for HYROX training in a commercial gym.

GYM & FUNCTIONAL TRAINING TURF

Sled Push & Pull Turf Manufacturer for HYROX Training

Custom 16mm short-pile turf for repeated sled push, sled pull and hybrid fitness training in commercial gyms, training centers and event projects.

  • 63,000 or 80,000 stitches/m²
  • Custom lane sizes
  • Tufted lines, numbers and logos
  • Custom projects from MOQ 1 roll

BUILT FOR SLED WORK

More Than Gym Turf - Engineered for Repeated Sled Push and Pull

Not every artificial turf is suitable for sled training. Loaded sleds create continuous compression, friction and horizontal pulling forces along the same working path. A suitable sled push turf must balance wear resistance, consistent resistance, stable footing and secure floor fixation.

Close-up of short-pile PE KDK curled yarn and backing used for sled push turf.
  • PE KDK curled yarn
  • Short-pile high-density surface
  • Strong backing
  • Consistent sled resistance
  • High wear resistance
  • Dense fiber support
  • Short and stable pile
  • Strong backing
  • Dimensional stability
  • Accurate tufted markings
  • Easy maintenance

That is why we use short-pile PE KDK curled yarn and purpose-selected backing instead of conventional landscape artificial grass.

SPECIFICATION GUIDANCE

63,000 vs. 80,000 Stitches/m² - Which One Should You Choose?

For regular gym use, 63,000 stitches/m² offers a strong performance-to-cost balance. For dedicated sled training facilities or repeated event use, 80,000 stitches/m² provides a more compact surface with greater fiber support.

WHAT AFFECTS SLED RESISTANCE?

Stitch density alone does not determine whether a sled feels easier or harder to push. Resistance can also be affected by:

  • Pile construction and yarn structure
  • Sled base design and base material
  • Total sled load and contact area
  • Floor installation and fixation
  • Pile direction and surface condition
  • Wear level after repeated use

For important gym or event projects, we recommend testing the selected turf with the intended sled model whenever possible.

HYROX TURF LENGTH & DIMENSIONS

Common Dimensions & Layouts

The correct turf length depends on the working lane, end zones, start and finish areas, logos and available floor space. The following are commonly requested layouts, not mandatory sizes.

Top-view diagram of a 2m by 12.5m working sled lane.

2m × 12.5m Working Lane

A compact training lane centered on the 12.5m working distance.

Top-view diagram of a 2m by 16.1m sled lane with start and finish end zones.

2m × 16.1m Lane with End Zones

Adds space for start and finish areas or branded end sections.

Top-view diagram of a 4m by 16.5m custom sled lane with branding area.

4m × 16.5m Custom Layout

A longer and wider layout with expanded end zones for larger logos and branding, with fewer seams for a cleaner installation.

Request a Size Recommendation

Send your available floor dimensions and preferred layout. We will suggest a practical lane size.

MANUFACTURING OPTIONS

One-Piece Integrated Turf or Three-Section Modular Construction

Long lanes with branded end zones can be manufactured in different ways. We recommend the method according to design complexity, quantity, alignment requirements, installation plan and budget.

Option A - One-Piece Integrated Turf

The center sled lane and both end zones are tufted as one continuous finished roll.

Diagram of one-piece integrated turf manufactured as one continuous roll.
  • No additional joint between the three sections
  • Clean, continuous appearance
  • Straightforward installation
  • Suitable for permanent gym layouts
  • 16.1m and 16.5m layouts can be produced as one piece
  • For easier transport and installation, one-piece lanes are generally recommended below 30m

Long custom graphics require a practical manufacturing tolerance and careful layout planning.

Option B - Three-Section Modular Construction

End Zone + Main Sled Lane + End Zone are manufactured separately.

Diagram of three-section modular turf with separate end zones and main sled lane.
  • Better control for complex end-zone graphics
  • Useful for multi-lane alignment
  • End zones can be replaced separately when branding changes
  • Can reduce the cost of future logo updates
  • Sections can be joined before shipping or on site with seam tape and adhesive
  • Joints can be positioned outside the main sled movement area when the layout allows

INSTALLATION GUIDANCE

Installation Is Part of the Sled Turf Performance System

A stable subfloor, accurate layout and suitable fixing method all contribute to a flat, secure and professional sled turf installation. Prepare and check the complete turf layout before selecting the final installation method.

Prepare the Subfloor

  • Flat and stable
  • Smooth, clean and dry
  • Free from dust, oil and grease
  • Free from loose material

Uneven areas underneath the turf may become more noticeable when a loaded sled passes over them and may affect the finished appearance and long-term performance of the installation.

Dry Lay, Align and Relax the Turf

  • Roll out the complete turf lane
  • Confirm its final position
  • Check lines, numbers and graphics
  • Align adjacent lanes where required
  • Trim edges where necessary
  • Allow the turf to relax after transport

Lay the turf flat for 24–48 hours before installation so the roll can fully open and settle. Do not begin permanent bonding until the complete layout has been checked and approved.

CHOOSE THE FIXING METHOD

Temporary turf installation using double-sided tape on a training floor.

Temporary Event Installation

For temporary fitness events or short-term installations, high-strength double-sided turf tape can be considered when the existing floor and selected backing are suitable.

  • Both long edges of the turf
  • Start and finish areas
  • High-stress turning areas
  • Turf joints and transitions
  • Connections to surrounding flooring

The complete lane should remain flat, aligned and securely fixed throughout sled use.

Long-Term Commercial Installation

For commercial gyms and permanent training facilities, full-surface adhesive installation is normally the more stable solution.

  • Helps reduce turf movement
  • Helps prevent lifted edges
  • Reduces wrinkles and air pockets
  • Stabilizes movement around joints
  • Maintains the planned lane position

Confirm adhesive compatibility and follow the adhesive manufacturer’s quantity, working-time and curing instructions. Keep edges, center areas and joints flat; allow about 48 hours before sled training unless a different curing period is specified.

Installing Multiple Sections

For projects using multiple turf sections or several adjacent lanes, confirm the full venue layout before production and installation.

  • Check roll numbers and planned positions before fixing
  • Place adjoining sections closely together
  • Trim uneven edges where necessary
  • Align lane lines, numbers, start and end zones
  • Secure joints flat and stable with a suitable seam system

Planning all lanes as one project helps maintain consistent alignment and visual continuity.

TESTING, REPORTS & COMPLIANCE

Test Reports & Compliance Documentation

Grace Grass provides a range of test reports and compliance documents covering fire performance, chemical safety and slip resistance. We also carry out internal sled push and pull checks as part of our gym turf development.

Internal Sled Push & Pull Checks

Repeated sled push and pull trials are used to observe:

  • Fiber wear
  • Surface appearance
  • Yarn stability
  • Backing stability
  • Overall consistency

These internal checks help us evaluate and improve turf performance for repeated sled training.
